Anti-Racism Rally & Candlelight Vigil: August 20, 5 PM

SUNDAY, AUG. 20th, 5 PM

MLK/Manhattan Square Park, 353 Court Street, Rochester

Caritas is sponsoring a gathering of people of faith and Rochester area residents committed to opposing racism and standing in solidarity with those who are impacted by racism in our local community.

In light of the events of the past week and the disturbing lack of moral leadership from many of our nation’s leaders, we will gather to pray and stand vigil for Heather Heyer and the 19 counter-protesters injured in Charlottesville.

As allies and committed opponents of racism, we will join our voices in opposition to President Trump’s response to Charlottesville – actions which have not only failed to unite us and begin the healing process, but have clearly emboldened those who espouse an ideology rooted in hate, exclusion and racial injustice.

It is our hope that this event will contribute to an ongoing community dialogue about our shared responsibility to serve as allies of those impacted by racist actions, attitudes and systemic inequities across the greater Rochester area.
